Weight loss surgery qualifies for Medicaid, Medicare, and most major insurance plans. Before scheduling your initial appointment, our office staff will check with your insurance carrier about the benefits coverage. If your insurance carrier does cover your surgical weight loss, they may require the proper documentation of the following:
• Supervised diet
• Prior medical history
• Proof of tried and failed diets
• Attendance of a support group
To learn about your health plan's weight loss surgery coverage and to ensure you obtain the proper documentation to receive approval for payment, please call our office. Sometimes the insurance carrier denies coverage for the patient without a reasonable cause. In these cases, our trained staff members will work with you to submit an appeal for the approval of coverage.
In conjunction with our hospital partners, we offer a cash-pay option. This option consists of a one-time fee that includes all hospital fees (preoperative labs, x-rays, and hospital stay), surgeon fees, anesthesia fees, and BLIS Care Insurance (post-op warranty against post-surgical complications). Not all self-pay plans by other programs are the same. Make sure that you understand what is covered.
