I had the gastric sleeve surgery in March 2014. Before surgery, I couldn’t move around without a walker. I couldn’t pick up anything I dropped. I was a sad and miserable individual. Thanks to my surgery, I now walk 3 times a week, and I can even shop without the use of a scooter. One day I dropped something, and without even thinking, I bent down and picked it up. When I realized what I had done, I shouted with joy. I am now a very happy and active person, though I still have a long way to go to goal weight…there are amazing victories that have nothing to do with the scale, and I will never take my mobility for granted.
