The purpose of the bariatric surgery psychology session is to find out if you are prepared mentally for the journey you have ahead. Your weight loss journey does not end once you leave the operating room—instead, it is the exact opposite. Therefore, we must evaluate your mental state and your commitment to this journey before granting you approval for surgery.
What to Expect
The bariatric surgery psychology evaluation will last about 1 hour. It will consist of the bariatric psychologist asking you questions regarding your weight history, your childhood and adolescent life, and why you want to lose weight. This evaluation may be completed over the phone or face-to-face at our office.
